Note: The recent update of iOS 13.4 is not letting people record the audio on FaceTime. It may be a temporary glitch and hopefully gets fixed in the next update. So, you can withstand the update on your iPhone, and you are good to use this feature. Otherwise, the iOS version, once updated, does not allow the user to go back to the previous version.
Steps to Record FaceTime call on iPhone
Step 1: On your iPhone open Settings app.
Step 2: Now you need to locate the Control Centre in the list and tap on it.
Step 3: To give it access to be used with other apps, locate Access within Apps and turn on the Toggle switch.
Now go to Customise Controls.

Step 4: Under this section of the Customization, a list of apps appear. The features listed are already added to the Control Centre with a minus sign beside it. This denotes that you can delete them from the list as well.
Also if you have none in this list, just add the items in this list from the all given apps names. They will appear with a plus sign in front of them to tap on to add them to the list of Control Centre. Remember to locate Screen Recording and add it here.
How To Record FaceTime Messages Using Messages?
Now another step to make sure you are going to a part of that FaceTime call.Step 1: Turn on FaceTime from the Settings app. Sign in using your Apple ID.
Step 2: Now you need to turn on the FaceTime Live Photos as well from the bottom.
Step 3: Set a time for the FaceTime group call and inform all the participants. Add members in the group in the Messages app.
Step 4: Now Tap on members’ names from the top of the screen and select them. You will see a Video icon, tap on it to start the video call.

Step 5: When it is ringing, open the Control Centre. Tap on the Screen recording button.

To complete the process with the audio, you must long-press the Screen Recording button here on Control Centre. See the Microphone, tap on it, turn it on, otherwise it shows as Grey which denotes it being turned off.
Now as to start the recording, go on and tap on the Start Recording button.
Step 6: As you are on the group call, you notice a red bar on the top of your screen indicating the recording. It will show you the time of screen recording, to stop the Screen recording, you can tap on it.
It will ask you if you want to stop recording and after you press the Stop button.
This is the complete process of recording a group FaceTime call. One can always start and stop the recording at any given point of time with this same procedure on the iPhone.
