During the Lockdown, Pick up More Chores at Home to #ShareTheLoad

The COVID-19 pandemic puts the spotlight on care work. From the care provided by medical professionals to care given by family, its importance cannot be understated. In contrast with previous humanitarian crises, COVID-19 underscores unpaid care as a key dimension of emergency response – it’s an enabler of both well-being and income-generation, given the school closures, elder vulnerability, and work-from-home arrangements. Lockdowns are also multiplying the domestic workload, another form of essential work, particularly since cleaning can prevent infection.

During the Lockdown, Pick up More Chores at Home to #ShareTheLoad

One of the notable changes in most urban households, since the shutdown, is that division of work on the home front has been almost equally split. Nuclear families, with both partners working professionals, are charting out schedules to ensure that both home and office work are taken care of.

To begin with, there are some disciplines now. Yes. It starts right from the morning. After my morning work, I help my mom wash the clothes in our washing machine. We use aerial detergent at home. I bought the big pack to save some money. Then I put 2 scoops of detergent powder Ariel in the washing machine before turning it on. When this is done - usually it takes me about 30-40 minutes depending on the mode selected, I remove clothes from the washing machine after switching off and dry it in sunlight. I always prefer to dry our clothes in Sunlight because I think sunlight can kill bad virus from our clothes. My sister and I fold them neatly and stack it up in our wardrobes. Try this and see the magic unfolds in front of your eyes.

I also recommend everyone to stay at home and help in household works. Don't go outside unnecessarily in this pandemic situation.

I like this video – I seriously want to cheer them! #ShareChoresMultiplyLove #ShareTheLaundry #ShareTheLoad
