Reliance Jio has launched the first augmented
reality-activated glasses Jio Glass in India at the 43rd AGM. The Jio Glass is
an answer to Snap's Spectacles 3, which was launched earlier this month but has
relatively more use. In contrast to Snap's Spectacles 3, the Covid-19 epidemic
focuses on Jio-glass video calls, amid a sudden rise in demand for remote
communication using video. Jio Glass uses 3D holographic imagery of
participants in a video call in a setup guided by mixed reality.

Jio Glass has been introduced as one of the next-generation products focusing on the launch of 5G networks. At the AGM, Jio said
he was committed to building India as a truly digital society and that this
would require an upgrade of devices and network infrastructure. With the launch
of Jio Glass, the company's plans to dominate India's 5G leap will be
constructive. Since Jio Glass will remain seamlessly connected to the network,
5G will facilitate video conference in front of the user's eyes. Jio said it
will start testing 5G in India as soon as the spectrum is auctioned.
Jio says its high-tech glasses will allow people to attend
video conferencing in a more streamlined and improved way by appearing
holographically among people. However, participants can also join video meetings
through their regular video feed, showing the use case for mixed reality which
is a combination of augmented reality and virtual reality. The Jio Glass will
be painted using a mobile phone that can also be used to share files and
presentations with participants. And there will be support for displaying the
presentation in Jio Glass. Jio Glass is available for both individuals and
businesses in India.
The Jio glass weighs 75 grams and comes with spatial
audio, so the meeting has crystal clear audio. Smart Glass supports all audio
and video formats and supports 25 video conferencing and collaboration
applications, one of them being ZoomMit which was recently launched as a
response to Zoom. Regular lenses are replaced by high-resolution frame screens.
Jio did not say when it would ship to customers or what
the price would be. For reference, Snap Spectacles is priced at Rs 29,999 in
India, which means it will cost less than Jio Glass.
Reliance Jio has enhanced the Jio TV + service with a new
interface, which looks as unusual as the Apple TV +. Jio TV + will bundle all
the content of different OTT platforms and TV channels under one roof so that
customers do not have to skim every section and page of the interface. Jio TV +
with broadband, a subscription is already available for all Jio Fiber customers.
