How to Install App Store and Apps on Xiaomi Mi TV
Lots of things have been delivered on the new Xiaomi MI TV. For just Rs 39,999, the new smart TV sports Samsung's 4K panel, AI-based smart functions, and ready-to-stream content. Yes, the implementation seems great but what makes New Age TVs smart and flexible? The freedom to download and install any number of applications is what can define a generally flexible system. But can you guess? Xiaomi MI TV comes without Google Play Store or any App Store.
This means you can't install apps like Netflix, Hotstar or VLC that spoil the fun. With a limited number of built-in apps, it looks like Xiaomi wants to decide what we want to see on our smart TVs. But, we will not let it happen. This is where we’re talking about Android World, so even though Xiaomi has created an almost shut-down ecosystem on this TV, it’s still possible to install a few third-party apps on it. In this post, we will talk about two approaches. The first method lets you sideload your favorite applications using external storage. However, if you want to play with many more apps, the possible solution is to install a good third-party app store.
1: Unlock the lock
You already know that Google requires your explicit permission to install apps from places other than the Play Store. This is why you need to enable the 'Allow Unknown Sources' settings on this TV. To do this, go to Settings> Security and select the Allow Unknown Sources option.
2: Install and Test
Once done, insert the .apk file to the USB drive. Now, select the USB option from the TV input option. This will display the contents of the USB drive. Now, all you have to do is select the .apk file and click install. Once done, the new app will be available for you to view on the home screen. That way, you can sideload all your favorite apps from one thumb drive.
3: Give Permission keys
However, as we said before, you can also install a third-party app store on your Xiaomi MI TV. Our favorite app, in this case, Aptoid TV. This Nifty App Store has all the right apps and it has an easy-to-install feature. From great gaming apps to entertainment apps, that's all! All you have to do is install this app according to the steps above. Once done, tap the application you want to install on your MI TV from the Aptoide TV Store. This will prompt you to notify the Android system. Click Install and the app will be installed at exactly any time. The good news is that the installed app will appear under My App by default.
4: Lock the back door
Keep all applications sidelined and installed, just make sure unknown source settings are disabled.
