8 Easy Steps to Create Amazing Instagram Posts in Canva
Gone are the days when we needed to hire a graphic designer to create flyers, banners or beautiful logos. With software solutions like Canvas, Adobe Spark and Designer, anyone can create dazzling social media posts on the go. Among them, Canvas is leading the list in popularity with thousands of templates designed for specific needs. For example, you can post amazing Instagram on Canvas to attract followers using the built-in Instagram templates. Here's how to do it.
Over the years, Canvas has made a name for itself in the design community. This is mainly thanks to the number of templates available in the software. The experience of templates is the heart of Canvas software and we suggest you start with them to create beautiful Instagram posts.

Take a template
First, we will choose a relevant template to start the design process. Canvas has 100k + templates. This can be overwhelming for new users. Fortunately, the company has neatly divided the templates into relevant sections to make it easier for the end user.
Step 1: Open the canvas on the desktop.
Step 2: Sign in using your account credentials and browse Canvas Home.
Step 3: Hover the mouse pointer over the template section above and you will get social media templates.
Step 4: Select Instagram posts under the Social Media heading.
As you can see from the screenshot below, Canvas has 38k + Instagram templates to choose from. Fortunately, the company has divided them nicely into different sections.
For this post, we will create a cell banner to use on Instagram.
Step 5: Select Sell.
Step 6: You will see hundreds of sales templates to convert to canvas.
Based on your brand or product, you can choose a relevant Instagram template. For example, Instagram posts related to the sale of beauty products may choose a template with a pink theme. You can also choose from various fashion sales templates.
Hover the mouse pointer over a template and you will see which templates can be used for free and which templates require a Canvas Pro subscription.
Step 7: Select the template of your choice and you will see all the relevant details like original builder, customization options, mobile compatibility and much more.
Step 8: Select Customize this template and Canva will take you to the edit interface.
One can also create an Instagram post from scratch. But it defeats the purpose of using software like Canberra. It is time consuming and requires knowledge about color, contrast, font, image selection and much more.
Ordinary users may find it quite difficult to come up with amazing Instagram posts on Canvas. So it is better to stick with the templates.
Edit Instagram template
Now that you have selected a relevant template to edit on canvas, now is the time to edit on canvas.
Change the color
Everything in the template is customizable. For example, if you are not interested in the default color theme, change it to something else using the color wheel above.
Fix the picture
Someone can also change the default image in the template. Click on the image background and select Delete. You can either upload your custom photos from the computer or choose from thousands of built-in photos.
While you’re at it, try using different filters and effects to add a spark to the image in an Instagram post.
If you have already created one, I would suggest adding it to the Instagram post. This will create and enhance your brand value.
Change the text
You want to remove the default text from the Instagram template and add yours. First, click on the text and move it. Then, add a new text style from the left sidebar. For text customization, one can change the color, style, size and much more of the text.
Play with animation
One of our favorites from this bunch. Canva lets you apply different styles of animation to your Instagram posts. This saves the entire application of your Instagram post. Add animation effects of your choice, and your post is good to go.

If you add an animation, Canva will suggest exporting the post to MP4 format. You can export the Instagram post as GIF or go with the normal PNG or JPG image format.
