Instagram Delete vs. Disabled: Where are these options

Instagram has not added the option to delete and disable mobile apps on iPhone and Android. You can only use them on a desktop or mobile web browser.

In our opinion, both options should have been offered in Instagram’s official Instagram apps.

The Disable My Account option is accessible from the Instagram web interface. Instagram has a separate webpage for deleting accounts, which makes it difficult for consumers to find the option.

What happens when you delete or deactivate your Instagram account

Temporarily deactivating your Instagram account hides your comments, likes, profile, number of followers, and other details. You can always show or show them after logging in to Instagram using apps or the web.

Some users simply want to disable their Instagram account to protect their account identity from others. In that case, you don't need to take this drastic step, you can always personalize your account from Settings> Privacy> Personal account options.

When you delete your Instagram account, you'll permanently lose your account, your profile, username, videos, photos, comments, likes, and followers.

After deleting your account, your username is again publicly available. Meaning, someone else can use your username and create an account on Instagram. So be careful while using this step.

Once Instagram deletes your account completely, you can sign up again with the same username or associate that username with another account until it accepts new people to Instagram.

When you use the deactivation option, your Instagram username is with you. No one will be able to use the same username to create an account in the app.

Steps before deleting or disabling your Instagram account

You don't need to do anything before disabling your Instagram account. You can simply follow the steps from the Instagram help page and disable your Instagram account.

When using the delete function, you should download a backup copy of your Instagram data.

After a certain period of time, Instagram will also remove each of your details from the server. All the photos and videos you've uploaded to Instagram over the years will disappear.

Instagram Delete Vs. Disable: How to get back

When you disable your Instagram account, you have an easy way to regain access. Log in to Instagram again using mobile apps or the web, and you're ready to swallow the familiar Instagram feed again.

If you're not used to the password manager, you're more likely to forget your Instagram credentials. However, you can follow these tips to log in and recover your account.

Through the Instagram Delete option, the company keeps all your information for 30 days. Meaning, no one will be able to use your username for the first 30 days to sign up for Instagram. And you can go back to using Instagram in 30 days.

It can take up to 90 days to complete the deletion process once it starts. Copies of your content may be in the backup storage after 90 days which Instagram uses to recover in the event of a disaster, software error or other data loss event.

After 30 days, you can use the same username and create a new account on Instagram. The number of your followers and other data is gone. So you start anew.
