How to Send Photos from Camera Roll as a Snap on Snapchat 2023
Snapchat has always been known for allowing you to send photos and videos to your friends for a set period of time before they disappear. Of course, this is only popular when sending things you don't want people to see for too long. However, the problem with the Snapchat app and sending photos and videos is that they have to be sent live.
This means that you only have one shot to capture that person or yourself before you dispatch someone. It's also a nuisance when you want to send something to someone as a red snap when it was taken a while ago on your camera roll. Maybe you're tired of sending the same selfie to someone, and instead of getting out of bed to send one again, you can upload a snap from your camera roll.
This means that you don't have to take live photos and videos to send as a normal snap, you can just go back to your camera roll and find photos and videos there to send as a normal snap.
It's possible to send memories as a snap or streak from your camera roll instead of a blue chat message. Photos taken from your memory can be sent as a normal photo using filters, third-party apps and stickers. To the recipient, it will look like you took the snap with your Snapchat camera instead of from your camera roll. If you want to send videos from your camera roll or memories and not as a chat, you can also do this using Snapchat filters and third-party apps.
How to send a snap from memory/camera roll as a snap
1. Using a Snapchat filter
The best way to send a photo or video from your camera as a live red or purple snap to one of your friends on Snapchat is to use a Snapchat filter. As weird as it sounds, Snapchat has a number of filters that allow you to send a photo from your camera roll as if it was just taken.
1. You need to make sure that you have the photo you want to send a simple snap to your camera roll This is because the filter will pull your camera roll or gallery so you can choose the photo you want to send as a normal snap.
2. Go to the Snapchat chat and select the smiley face icon next to the button to take a photo. It lets you pull filters and search for camera roll filters that let you send snaps from your memory as if they were a normal snap.
3. Click the Explore button that has a search icon on the bottom right. From here, you want to search Camera Roll and it will bring up a bunch of filters that will allow you to upload a Snap from your Camera Roll just like a normal Snap.
4. Search Camera Roll and select one of the filters From here, your gallery will be pulled up and you'll be asked to select a photo from your camera roll.
5. Once you select a photo, it will look like you took a live snap, and from here, you'll be able to edit it like any normal snap you've taken.
6. Once you're done, you can choose who you want to send the snap to
7. When the person accepts the snap, it will look like you took the snap using Snapchat as normal.
The downside to using this method is that at the bottom right of the snap, the filter icon will say from the camera roll, and those very familiar with snaps will know that you sent it using a Live Photo and it's not. Which you have now taken using snap app. When they click the filter icon at the bottom right of the Snap you just sent them, it will pull up the filter you used and allow them to use it and select a photo from their gallery.
If you want to post a photo on Snapchat other than from the camera roll, you'll need to use a third-party app or use a sticker. Using either method won't send snaps from your camera roll to people so they'll never know it's from camera roll.
2. Using a sticker
Another way you can send a photo from your camera roll as a simple snap is by using the Stickers app. The downside to using the sticker method is that it blurs the image a bit so that's something you have to be fine with. However, this means that it actually looks like you've taken the snap now, and there's no filter icon at the bottom right of the snap.
1. Go to the Snapchat app and select the memory icon > then select Camera Roll and select the photo you want to send as a normal snap.
2. At the bottom left, select the Pen tool so you can edit the image and create a sticker using it.
3. Select the scissors tool and draw around the edges of the image to make a sticker out of it. Once you're done, the sticker you create should be a rectangle of the image. It will be automatically saved to your stickers.
4. Exit the memory section and take a snap like you normally would.
5. From here, you want to click on the sticker icon which is the icon of a piece of paper with a fold in the corner. Tap the scissors icon in the top row to pull the stickers you created earlier.
6. Once the sticker is selected, drag it with two fingers and make sure it fits all corners of the screen.
7. Send the Snap to your friends as you would a normal Snap
3. Using the LMK App
LMK is a social app and may allow you to post snaps from your camera roll, not chat. To use it:
1. Open Snapchat and tap the camera icon in the middle of the bottom navigation bar to open the viewfinder
2. Swipe up from the bottom to access your Snapchat memories
3. In your memory, tap the Camera Roll tab to open your photo gallery
4. Select the photo/video you want to send as a snap for Streak and not a normal chat. You don't have to be careful about the photo or video you choose because any photo or video will work so you don't have to worry about your choice of media. The age of the picture or video is also irrelevant.
5. This will send the photo or video as a snap that you can use for the streak and not just as a chat. From here, if you send the snap to your friends as normal, it will be sent as a blue chat and not as a normal snap that you can use for streaks. To send it as a Snap, you need to edit it
6. To edit the photo, tap and hold the photo for a few seconds A menu with 5 different options: Export Photo, Delete Photo, My Eyes Only, Edit Photo and Send Photo.
7. Select Edit Photo. This will take you to the editing screen.
8. On the editing screen, you will see two black bars on the photo. One above, and one below. When you edit the photo, it will get rid of the black bars. If you don't edit the photo, sending the photo as a snap will have two black bars that will make it look unrealistic.
9. Tap Share at the bottom left
10. Select Save Image to save the image to your Camera Roll This will make it look like you took the photo from Snapchat, not your phone's camera roll or gallery.
11. Download the LMK app. It is available on both App Store and Google Play Store. The app lets you make friends by asking questions or polls through stickers, and T can also be used to send snaps from your camera roll as a normal snap.
12. Once downloaded, open it and tap Sign in with Snapchat to connect your Snapchat
13. Once you are logged in, select the + icon and select Post. This is where you can send a photo or a video from your camera roll as a simple Snap
14. Select Post to upload a photo/video from your camera roll to the app.
15. Select the camera icon in the left corner of the screen After you select the camera icon, your camera roll will open.
16. Select your previously saved image/video. Make sure it's only one video because you can't select multiple photos or videos at once. If you want to send several snaps from your camera roll as a single snap, you'll need to do them all at once.
17. Tap on Snapchat to post to Snapchat. Selecting Post in Snapchat will open the Snapchat app with your previously saved photo in the background.
18. Since LMK is a Q&A app, your photo will have a Q&A sticker on it to indicate to others that it wasn't really taken from your Snapchat camera. To avoid people thinking this, you'll want to remove the stickers and attachments from the LMK app.
19. Remove the attachment by dragging and dropping it to the trash bin and tapping the paper clip icon > Remove Attachment. Removing stickers and attachments will make it look like it was taken live on your camera roll.
20. To remove the attachment, select Paper Clip on the left side of your screen Once you tap on the paper clip icon, it will open the LMK app.
21. Next, tap Remove attachment to remove the attachment from your photo or video that you want to send as a normal snap. Now, the photo/video looks like you took it from the Snapchat app as if you were going to send a normal snap.
22. Finally, tap on the arrow icon to send to your friends. Doing so will bring up your Snapchat friends list.
23. After you send the photo from the LMK app, it will be sent as a normal snap and will be able to send as a streak, not an in-chat message. It will be marked as delivered and received instead of appearing in the chat.
4. Take a picture of the picture
If you want to send a photo or video from your camera roll as a red or purple snap, you can use the phone you have Snapchat installed on and film the photo or video you want to send as a normal snap. This is quick to do and will allow you to send red or purple snaps without any hassle. However, the downside is that it can look obvious taken from another phone and show pixels from another phone. You can use Snapchat's native filters to edit your snaps so it doesn't look like you took the photo or video with another phone.
5. Casper APK for Android
Another way to send a red snap from your camera roll is to use third-party apps like Casper APK for Android. You should be aware that using any third-party application to access Snapchat is against its terms of use and you risk having your Snapchat account banned for using third-party applications not available in your phone's native app store.
If you have Android and you have an older version of Android, you can use an app called Casper. This will allow you to upload photos from the phone's gallery to Snapchat as red snaps.
1. Download the Casper.apk file and install it. Your Android will tell you that you are downloading potentially harmful software for your phone
2. To install Casper.apk, go to settings and enable unknown sources It will let you download third party apps which are not in Google play.
3. Log out of your Snapchat account.
4. Open Casper and login to your Snapchat account.
5. On the home screen, tap the plus icon This will bring up different options to send the snap as a normal snap.
6. Select Choose from gallery and select a photo or a video Once you've selected a photo, make any edits you want.
7. At the bottom-right, tap the Send icon and choose the friend you want to send the snap to as a red snap. Your photo or video will now be sent as a normal snap and will be able to be sent as a streak, not an in-chat message. It will be marked as delivered and received instead of appearing in the chat.
