Know if Someone Deleted Their Snapchat Account

How to Know if Someone Deleted Their Snapchat Account

Why would someone delete their Snapchat account?
If there's one thing all Snapchatters agree on, it's Snapchat's insane addiction. Once you start a snap streak with your friends, the thought of breaking it will send chills down your spine. Pretty soon, you'll be checking your Snapchat and sending a streak to all your friends first thing in the morning.

This addiction is why many Snapchat users quit the platform altogether. Most of them believe that the app takes too much of their time without giving anything productive in return. And as a result, they decide to delete their Snapchat.

But is deleting your Snapchat account really the answer to your problem? You might not want to indulge in the app anymore, but what about the countless videos and photos saved in your Snapchat memories? You know when you delete your account you have to say goodbye to them all, right?

If you're tired of Snapchat and want to take a break, the best way to go about it is to uninstall the app from your smartphone (but remember your password). And when you're ready to return to Snapchat, reinstall the app from your App Store and log in to your account.

How to know if someone has deleted their Snapchat account

With the rapid increase in cyber crime these days, all social media platforms out there are trying their best to protect the privacy of their users keeping their best interests in mind. Snapchat is no different and respects the privacy of all its users, including those who wish to leave the platform.

In other words, when someone decides to delete their account, the Snapchat team respects their privacy and doesn't notify their friends about it. This means that you have very limited options for figuring it out on your own.

However, let's make the best of the situation by discussing how you can learn when a Snapchat account has been deleted.

1. Search for their username on Snapchat

When you're in your chat list on Snapchat, have you ever noticed a little magnifying glass on the top left of the screen right next to your Bitmoji? Well, when you click on this icon, a search bar will appear on your screen, where you can enter the username of the person whose account you think has been deleted.

Once you type in their username and press enter, you'll get one of two results. Either their names will be found, or they won't. Keep reading to learn what both of these results could mean.

If you can still find their username, what does that mean?

If you can still find this person's username and can still send them snaps, it means their account is still active However, perhaps they stopped testing the app or uninstalled it a while ago.

On the other hand, if you can still see their profile but can't send them any snaps, it's a sign that they deleted their account within the last 30 days. When a person deletes their account, Snapchat gives them a one-month suspension period to reinstate if they wish. During this time, their username will be active, but you will not be able to contact them.

So, if you come back to check in another 30 days and can't find their username, it indicates that their account has been permanently deactivated, all records of their conversations and snap scores deleted for good.

What does it mean if you can't find their username?

Now, there are two reasons why you can't find someone's username on Snapchat (if you remember the username correctly). First, it may mean that they have blocked you, in which case you will no longer be able to contact them on Snapchat.

However, the same condition will apply in the second case, i.e. their account has been deleted more than one month ago.

So, how do you find out which possibilities are true in your case? Well, the easiest way to go about it is to search your friends' usernames from Snapchat; If you can do this from multiple accounts, you will get more specific results.

If you can't even find this person on your friends' Snapchat, it probably means they've deleted their account for good.

2. Ask them directly

As we discussed above, Snapchat doesn't exactly make it easy for us to find out if someone has deleted their Snapchat account. However, if you have already conducted the test we talked about in the last section and believe they did, why not ask them about it?

How to Check if Someone Wants You on Snapchat

Snapchat doesn't send you notifications when a friend blocks or unfollows you.

This is an across-the-board policy among social media platforms to prevent their users from being offended or hurt emotionally.

However, things are a little more complicated with Snapchat.

When you think someone has removed you from Facebook or Instagram, you can simply check your "Friends List" or "Following" section to see if their name still appears there.

However, if someone unfriends you on Snapchat, their name may be in your "Friends" section.

You may even be able to send them snaps depending on their privacy settings.

Signs that show someone has unfriended you on Snapchat

1. Membership Section

The subscriptions section lets you see stories from non-friend Snapchatters, your favorite publishers, and other channels you're subscribed to.

If you accidentally see an old friend's story there, it means you're no longer on their friend list.

This is why their content appears as public users.

2. Gray arrow

Another way to see why they aren't showing up in your Snapchat feed is to message a person you think has been removed.

Go to your home page and press the speech balloon icon in the lower left corner.

Double-click your friend's profile and select the Circle tab to take a Snap photo.

Then send to the user and check the status of the message.

If the message goes through, a red arrow will appear next to the username, indicating "delivered."

If it changes to gray, however, the message goes into a pending state, meaning you have to wait for the user to confirm your request.

This is a clear sign that the person has deleted you.

Otherwise, the Snap would have reached your friend without the need for confirmation.

3. Location sharing option

When someone deletes you on Snapchat, almost all avenues of communication will be limited.

Location sharing is one of them.

You can no longer share your location with them or request their location.

4. Blue tick mark

You would assume that the blue mark above a username indicates that they are still following you.

Don't let that fool you.

The symbol only indicates that they are in your friend list, not the other way around.
