How to Fix Camera Lag on Android

If your Android camera app is unbearably slow when capturing photos and videos, you'll want to make it faster. You can use the solutions below to speed up the camera app on your Android phone. So, let's check them out.

1. Close recent apps

Android is known to keep several apps running in the background of your phone, until you kill it. One or more of these resource-hungry apps can run in the background to hold a large portion of your phone's memory. This is a potential cause for a lazy camera app experience. If these apps aren't very important, you can turn off recent apps on Android.

Swipe from the bottom of the screen to the top to open the multitasking menu and pause (or tap the Recent button). Swipe up to close apps.

Try using the camera app again.

2. Tweak camera setting

Your phone's camera app has features and techniques that may not be very useful for you. Disabling some less useful features will help make the app more responsive, especially if you use a low-end Android phone or an older phone.

Step 1: Open the Camera app on your phone and tap the gear-shaped icon in the top left corner to open the settings.

Activating the battery saver can help you limit the power usage of your phone and extend its battery life. However, to do this, you need to compromise the functionality of your Android phone and disable some features. As a result, you may notice stuttering and delays when using the camera app.

To avoid this, you should consider disabling Power Saver mode on your phone by following the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your phone and go to Battery and Device Care.

Step 2: Go to the battery and turn off the switch next to the power saving.

5. Change processing speed (for Samsung phones only)

If the camera app on your Samsung Galaxy phone is annoyingly slow or lagging behind, you can try changing the processing speed on your phone to speed things up. Here's how.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your Samsung Galaxy phone and navigate to Battery and Device Care.

Step 2: Go to Battery and tap on more battery settings.

Step 3: Tap Processing Speed and select High.

Alternatively, you can set the maximum processing speed. However, this can cause your phone to overheat and drain the battery fairly quickly.

6. Clear camera cache

7. Reset camera settings
