If you open your Instagram business account, you will see two tabs - Primary and General in your inbox. How to mark messages as unread on Instagram
As mentioned earlier, people with business accounts on Instagram can mark their conversations as unread in a simple step. It doesn't matter whether the chat is in the primary tab or the normal tab, you always have the option to mark unread and unseen texts from the Instagram app.
Here's how you can:
Open your inbox and click on the three horizontal lines at the top of the screen. It looks like a hamburger icon.
You will get an option to select the conversation you want to delete or mark as unread.
Click on the conversation and select "More".
Select "Mark as unread" from the available options
It is important to note here that this is only one way to mark the conversation as unread and not unseen. This is just a way to mark conversations as unread and save them for reading later. Note that this option is not yet available for the desktop version.
How to unread messages on Instagram without a business account
The above function is for business account users only. So, if you have a business account on Instagram, you can use it. Now, the important question is "What if you don't have a business account"? Or, do you want to unread a conversation in your personal account? Is it still possible to leave a message unread?
You cannot simply accept a request from someone who is trying to send you a message. It is possible to read strangers' messages from the "Message Request" section without letting them know that you have seen and read the texts.
