How to change voice on Google Maps for Android

There are two ways to change the voice on the map in Android. Both methods are explained below:

Change voice on Google Maps for Android via the app

Google uses language settings and the voice engine to provide spoken directions, which require users to turn on maps to change their voice. Here's how it works.

Step 1: Launch Google Maps by tapping on your device's icon.

Step 2: Tap the three lines at the top left of the screen to open the menu.

Step 3: Scroll to the menu and tap Settings.

Step 4: Scroll to the menu and tap Navigation Settings.

Step 5: In the navigation settings, tap Voice Selection. The currently used navigation should be at the top with a checkmark next to the voice.

Step 6: As you scroll through the list, you should see all the available language options with their regional variations. Tap on the language option of your choice.

Step 7: After selecting the language option of your choice, the setting should be turned off. Return to Map View in your Google Maps app.

Step 8: Tap Go at the bottom right of your screen.

Step 9: Enter your location and your destination. Tap Start and listen to Google Maps for the new voice you choose.

Android has an alternative way to change the voice on Google Maps. This method requires changing the language settings on your device. Here's how to use this method:

Step 1: Turn on the settings on your phone.

Step 3: Select text-to-speech output.

Step 4: Select the settings icon next to the Google text-to-speech engine.

Step 5: Select the language.

Step 6: Choose the language option of your choice.

Step 7: After selecting the language option of your choice, return to Map View in your Google Maps app.

Step 8: Tap Go at the bottom right of your screen.

Step 9: Enter your location and your destination. Tap Start and listen to Google Maps for the new voice you choose.

Unlike Android devices, Google Maps is not pre-installed on the iPhone. Users need to download it from the App Store to access it. You also need to change the iPhone settings to change the voice on the map. See the steps below to learn how:
