1. Driver Update

When sound is played on your PC, the driver plays an important role in communicating sound from your digital file to the hardware, i.e. the speaker. This problem may be due to an old or corrupt driver. To update the drivers to the latest version, you can use any of the three methods mentioned below:

Search the official website. Most manufacturers maintain official websites where you can get support for products and download updated drivers. You must know the hardware specifications to download the correct driver for your product.

Device Manager. Microsoft has provided a built-in tool for all Windows users to update their drivers. This tool, Device Manager, is free to use and can be used to search for driver updates on Microsoft servers.

2.  Windows Updates

Microsoft has been releasing updates to fix errors and anomalies every Tuesday. These updates include patches and other elements to fix bugs and issues. The sound issues could be fixed by updating your Windows Operating System. Here are the steps to update your PC:

Step 1: Press Windows + I on your computer keyboard to open the Settings window.

Step 2: Choose Update and Security from the options listed.

Step 3: Now click on the Check For Updates button to initiate the scan for updates.

Step 4: Click on the download button next to the update you wish to install.

Step 5: Reboot your computer after all the updates have been installed.

3. Try A Clean Boot

If you are facing issues while recording the sound on your PC, it could be due to another conflicting program running in the background. If that is the case, you should try the clean boot option that will restart your Windows OS without other apps running in the background. This will help you identify if any program was preventing the sound output. Here are the steps to perform a clean boot on your PC:

Step 1: Press Windows + R to open the RUN box.

Step 2: Type msconfig followed by the Enter Key.

Step 3: The System Configuration box will now open.

Step 4: In the General Tab, click on Selective Startup option.

Step 5: Make sure to uncheck the box labeled as Load Startup Items.

Step 6: Next, click on the Services tab and check the box Hide All Microsoft Services.

Step 7: Now click on Disable All.

Step 8: Click on Apply followed by OK, and then reboot your computer.

Now try screen recording with audio and check if the issue has been resolved.

4. Use the Audio Troubleshooter

Try the Microsoft audio recording troubleshooter, if you’re still having difficulties capturing video without sound. It’s a program that automatically finds and fixes audio problems that hinder screen recording with sound. The instructions for starting an audio troubleshooter are as follows.
