Transfer Google Photos From One Account

How To Transfer Google Photos From One Account to Another

Google Photos is excellent cloud storage that helps users save their memories. This online service uses Google Drive as its backend, which means you have up to 15GB of free storage. Most of us would consider 15GB more than anyone needs. But some (including me) will need more cloud storage. You can, of course, purchase additional storage space in Google Drive or create multiple free accounts and use up to 15GB per account.

You may need to transfer your online photos from one Google Account to another or to another cloud service provider. This blog helps camera enthusiasts learn how to easily transfer Google Drive photos to another account.

Assuming you have two Google Accounts and have opened them in different browser tabs on your PC, here are two ways to transfer Google Drive photos to another account.

1. Manual transfer

The easiest way to do this is to manually download all the Google Photos from your first account to your PC. When you select multiple photos, they will be downloaded as a compressed file Extract all the images to a new folder on your PC and manually upload to a second Google Account.

Professionals: Very easy to carry.

Cons: Spend time and effort. Also not practical for a large number of images.

2. Partner Account

The latter method may be a bit technical but it seems to be a more practical method than 15GB download and re-uploading to a different account. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Go to the "Utilities" tab of your first Google Photos account and click the "Start" button under "Add a Partner Account".

Step 2: Select the email address associated with your second account as the recipient.

Step 3: Select "All Photos" and click the Next button. Click "Send Invitation" to grant access to this account in your albums.

Step 4: Accept an invitation to access your photos from the "Sharing" option on your second account. You will also receive an email with a link to the shared library where all these photographs can be found.

Step 5: There's an "Auto-Saving On" button in the top left corner when viewing shared photos. Click on it to bring up the "Autosave" window, where you can choose to save all the shared photos from your first account.

Step 6: Make sure your photos are saved in your secondary Google Account before you stop sharing. However, you can disconnect the two accounts and remove the original photos without losing them once the transfer is complete.

While the previous method of "downloading and uploading Google Photos to PC" will work, it is not the ideal way to move everything to a separate cloud storage drive. Instead, use a cloud-to-cloud management service that is faster and does not depend on the storage capacity of your device or external hard drive. MultCloud is a cloud-to-cloud management service that lets you transfer files between two different cloud-storage accounts. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Create a free MultCloud account at MultCloud.com. You will need to sign in after activating it with your email address.

Step 2: To add both of your cloud storage accounts, go to the "Add Cloud Drive" tab on the left side of the screen.

Step 3: Enter the "Photos" folder in the new "Google Photos" tab. You can select all the photos you want to transfer or tick the box above to select everything.

Step 4: Select "Copy to" from the context menu of the selected photograph, then select your new cloud drive as the destination. This is a one-time transfer, so you'll need to sync your album again for any changes.

Step 5: MultCloud will transfer your photos from Google Photos to the new provider. The transfer progress will be displayed in a box in the bottom-right corner
