Quit Your Job And Move Abroad

5 Tell-Tale Signs It Is Time For You To Quit Your Job And Move Abroad

Be honest: how often do you sit and daydream about being laid on a beach somewhere, reading a book and sipping a cocktail in total peace and quiet? Or find yourself fantasizing about being stranded on a tropical island and never having to work another day in your life? If so, you definitely aren’t alone! Many of us spend much of our lives staring out of the office window and thinking about what could be; it’s part of our nomadic heritage.

But, is it just ‘one of those things’? Should you just put on a brave face and get on with life?

In this article, we’re going to share 5 tell-tale signs that it is time for you to quit your job and go travelling!

1. You struggle to get out of bed on weekdays

If you spend most nights lying in bed trying desperately to sleep because you know you’re going to feel miserable and sluggish when you have to force yourself out of bed in the morning, it’s a good sign that you’re unhappy with your situation.

2. You’re stuck in a monotonous routine and you can’t see a way out

Does every day feel like groundhog day to you?

Work, work, work, work, work, party, sleep, and repeat.

If you are stuck in a monotonous and predictable routine and you are starting to resent living for the weekend, then it is time you seriously consider a change of scenery.

Life is short!

3. You are fed up with only surviving

Are you earning barely enough to get by despite working every hour that God sends? Do you feel like you are breaking your back to pay your rent and energy bills only to find that you have barely enough left to eat, let alone go out and enjoy yourself? It could be a sign that it’s time to walk away!

4. You don’t enjoy your job and don’t care whether you get a promotion or not

Do you work only to pay the bills? Do you take zero pride in the work that you do? Are you not fussed at all about where you end up in 10 years so long as it isn’t in the same place?

It’s a big world out there…

5. You aren’t happy for your friends who are living their best life overseas; you envy them

Do you frequently see pictures of your friends on Facebook or Instagram living it up on a beach in Thailand? Or riding through the Jungle on the back of an elephant? Sat on the roadside in Bangkok eating a delicious bowl of steaming noodle soup for less than you have to pay for a bag of crisps?

It could be your reality too!

Take action

If all of the above applies to you, take action! There’s a big and beautiful world out there and it is packed with opportunity. If you don’t have anything tying you to your home, get those bags packed and book your flight! Travelling is so important in life!

Of course, you will need to have some money behind you, but ultimately, as long as you can line up a job in your dream destination, you don’t need all that much to move.

Take Thailand as an example. If you invest in a TEFL qualification, you can get a teaching job in a tropical climate paradise where their food is cheap, the people are friendly, and the accommodation is a fraction of what you pay at home (the condos for sale at The Forestias will blow your mind).

And if teaching doesn’t appeal to you, research the many other jobs you can do as a foreigner in Thailand – or any other country abroad for that matter.

Don’t waste your life daydreaming about the life you want to live and live it!!! Home will always be where you left it.
