How to start a secret chat on telegram
First, let's see how you can start a secret chat on Telegram on Android and iOS.
Android Method
Step 1: Open the Telegram app on your Android. Now tap the Compose button in the bottom right corner and select the New Secret Chat option.
Step 2: Next, select anyone from your contacts list to start a secret chat.
Alternatively, you can start a secret chat from one of your existing conversations. To do this, open the chat with the person you want to start a secret chat with.
Now use the three-dot menu at the top and select the Start Secret Chat option. Finally, when prompted, click Start.
iOS Method
Starting a secret chat on Telegram for iOS is a slightly different experience than Android. Here's how to do it.
Step 1: Launch the Telegram app on your iPhone or iPad. Now go to the Contacts tab and select Anyone from your contacts.
Step 2: In the contact profile, tap the More button to select the Start Secret Chat option.
And that's it. You have just started your secret chat with that person.
Self-destruct Message
To add an extra layer of security, Telegram allows you to send self-destruct messages to your secret chat. All you have to do is set a timer, and your messages will disappear from the chat. You can set it anywhere from one second to one week.
On Android
To send a self-destruct message in Secret Chat, tap on the watch icon in the profile picture above. Set the Self-Destruct Timer and tap Done.
To send a self-destruct message in a secret chat, tap the clock icon in the text box. Select a duration for the self-destruct message and tap Done.

Once you enable this option, Telegram will delete any messages, files, photos or videos from both devices (sender and recipient) after a specified period of time.
Self-destruct messaging is a feature that is exclusive to secret chats in the telegram at the moment. So, if you want to send such self-destructive messages in regular chats on the telegram, unfortunately, out of your luck.
How to end a secret chat on the telegram
If you no longer need to chat in private and want to end or cancel your private chat, your only option is to delete the entire conversation. Here's how to do it.
On Android
Step 1: Go to the secret chat by telegram. Now tap and hold the chat and tap the Delete icon from the top toolbar.
Step 2: Tap Delete Chat to confirm.
Be sure to delete the secret chat in Telegram on iOS
Step 1: Open the Telegram app on your iPhone. Now swipe left to the Secret Chat conversation and tap the Delete button.
Step 2: Tap 'Delete me and recipient name' to confirm.
That's it. Telegram will delete the entire secret chat conversation without leaving a trace.
Telegram's secret chat is certainly exciting. It simply stores data on the device of the sender and the recipient and not on its server, making it more secure.
